The Pacaya Samiria
National Reserve
For nearly two decades, we have led travelers into the heart of the Upper Peruvian Amazon, where the Andes yield to dense jungle.
Spanning over 5 million acres, the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is the largest protected flooded forest on Earth.
We were the first to bring high-end cruising here-pioneers who know its rhythms, its hidden waterways, and its people. Our captains find the deepest waters, our guides reveal the unseen.

Float through the flooded forests of the Peruvian Amazon aboard the world’s first Relais & Châteaux cruise company.

The Jungle of Mirrors

Seasons

Day 1 - Arrival & First Encounters
Your journey begins in Iquitos, a vibrant gateway city surrounded by jungle and water. Our team welcomes you at the airport and accompanies you in comfort aboard our private vehicle. As you journey toward Nauta, a nourishing lunchbox eases you into the rhythms of the rainforest.
In Nauta, one of the oldest towns in Loreto, you’ll be greeted at our private embarkation port. Here begins your intimate encounter with the Amazon. Step aboard your Delfin vessel and settle into your suite—an oasis of calm crafted with local elegance, from handwoven details to natural cotton comforts and your own private terrace.
As the vessel glides into the waters of the Marañón River, join your naturalist guide in the observation lounge for an overview of the journey ahead—its landscapes, wildlife, history, and wonder. At twilight, set out on your first skiff excursion through the seasonally flooded forest. The high waters bring you closer to the treetops, where monkeys leap between branches and colourful birds perch just overhead. As the sun sets, the forest shifts into another world. Search for caimans, owls, and other nocturnal creatures under a starlit canopy. This is the Amazon in high water—immersive, thriving, unforgettable.
Day 2 - Mysteries of the Flooded Forest
At dawn, you set out to explore Yanayaquillo, where the rainforest awakens in full splendor. Colourful birds soar overhead while sloths rest quietly in the treetops, perfectly adapted to the rhythms of the Amazon.
Later in the morning, a visit to the Amazon Natural Park brings you closer to the ancient knowledge of the forest. Walking along its lush trails, you’ll learn about medicinal plants before joining a shaman for a traditional ceremony—an intimate moment that reveals the spiritual heart of the jungle.
By afternoon, the pristine waters of Yanayacu Pucate invite adventure. Enjoy a peaceful skiff ride in search of wildlife and take a refreshing swim in one of the most beautiful blackwater lagoons of the reserve.
Day 3 - Exploring the Hidden AmazonRise
This morning, the Yanayacu Pucate River invites you to adventure. Glide across its mirrored waters by kayak, or cast your line in search of the famed Amazonian piranha, all while surrounded by the lush flooded forest and the symphony of its wildlife.
In the afternoon, step ashore at Fundo Casual for a guided trail walk. Here, the forest reveals its secrets at ground level— towering trees, medicinal plants, and the chance to spot unique creatures hidden among the greenery. It’s a journey that brings you closer to the vibrant life of the Amazon.
Day 4 - Where Rivers & Cultures Meet
At sunrise, venture into the Yarapa River on a skiff exploration. This winding waterway is alive with wildlife—look to the treetops for playful monkeys, vibrant birds, and perhaps a sloth tucked quietly among the branches. The stillness of the morning amplifies the symphony of the forest, offering an unforgettable sense of connection with the Amazon’s rhythms.
In the afternoon, witness one of nature’s great wonders at the Amazon Confluence, where the Ucayali and Marañón Rivers join to form the mighty Amazon. Here, you’ll also visit a riverside community, where traditions and daily life reveal the deep bond between people and the forest they call home.
Day 5 - A Fond Farewell to the Amazon
With warm hearts, our staff will bid you farewell as your journey comes to an end. At Nauta’s port, our team will escort you by private vehicle back to Iquitos, a scenic 95-kilometer drive.
Before your flight, enjoy an interactive activity about melipona stingless bees and their crucial role in the Amazon ecosystem.
We’ll also visit the Amazon Research Center for Ornamental Fishes, where you can admire the Amazon’s vibrant aquatic life—from giant arapaima to colorful freshwater stingrays. This final stop offers a beautiful farewell to the region’s rich biodiversity.
Our team will assist with your luggage and check-in at Iquitos airport. At security, your guide and the Delfin crew will warmly say goodbye, hoping your Amazon journey leaves you with unforgettable memories.
